Keane on shortlist for All-Australian squad

Mitchelstown’s Mark Keane, who plies his trade Down Under with the Adelaide Crows, has been listed on the All-Australian squad, recognition of his defensive performances this season with the Australian AFL team.

Described as being ‘a mainstay’ in the Crows’ defence, to date this season he has played 23 matches, with the club’s detailing his statistics as ‘averaging 14.6 disposals at 78.2 per cent efficiency, 4.5 marks, 2.5 intercept marks, 5.3 spoils and 4.6 rebound 50s’.

The multi-talented sportsman, who plays hurling and Gaelic football for Ballygiblin and Mitchelstown when ‘home’, has been an inter-county representative with Cork in recent years, his late goal in the Munster football semi-final of 2020 famously dumping Kerry out of the provincial championship. Now, his star continues to rise in his adopted sport, named amongst the 44 quality players, recognition of the best players from across the Australian Football League (AFL) following the regular season.
