Katie Taylor topping the bill at ‘Road to Rio’ fight night in Fermoy

Topping the bill at the ‘Road to Rio’ fight night in Fermoy next Saturday is World, European, European Union and Olympic champion Katie Taylor.

On Saturday next at Loreto Sports Complex, Fermoy St John’s Boxing Club in association with Maher’s Sports, Cork, host ‘Road to Rio’ fight night.

Topping the bill is four times world champion, six times European champion, five times European Union champion and Olympic champion Katie Taylor whose opponent is youth and junior champion quarter-finalist (2012), world women's senior elite championships, Patrica Berghult (Sweden).

This will be the first time these two girls be touching gloves against each other in what is a preparation bout for the upcoming world championships in which these two girls will be competing. Katie will be going for the record five world titles on the trot, as Katie is unbeaten in the last eight years.

She is looking forward to this bout and meeting her favourite fans down here, as she always gets a mighty reception. So head to Loreto Sports Complex, Fermoy on Saturday next where you will see the world’s greatest female and Olympic champion boxer, Katie Taylor, in action.

There are also nine other top class bouts down for decision including our own national champion, Adam O’Brien v Luke Barrett (Rathkeale BC) and our Munster champion Timmy McDonagh v Tiernan Ball (Trojan BC, Listowel).
