Near neighbours James Deane and brothers Conor and Jack Shanahan from Castletownroche/Killavullen, fought it out in Riga, Latvia at the Drift Masters European Championship over the weekend, James and Jack going head to head in the semi-final.
However, it was James Deane that would take top spot on the podium following an intense battle in the final with the favourite, Poland’s Peter Wiecek. Jack (Shanahan) finished in third place.
“It was unreal to be honest, it was the only round of European competition this year so everybody had to push as hard as possible.
“The competition was insane. It was pretty cool to be battling it out with Jack Shanahan on the other side of Europe,” James Deane told The Avondhu.
