Irish racquetball team set for European Championships

Darragh O’Donoghue from Araglin and Johnny O’Keeney from Fermoy will be part of the Irish team who fly out from Dublin Airport on Tuesday ahead of the 19th Senior European Racquetball Championships in The Hague.

The competition gets underway on Wednesday and runs until Sunday. The Irish team held their final team training session in the Fermoy Community Youth Centre during the recent Fermoy Festival.

Darragh and Johnny will come up against tough opposition mainly against the host nation, The Netherlands, and also the reigning champions Germany, who will be looking for their 8th European title.

Ireland has a strong tradition in racquetball and previously won these championships back in 2013 when they were held in Italy.
