Not too sure what to do this weekend? Trust us when we say, we’ve got just the thing for you, as this Saturday and Sunday, August 13th and 14th, the Irish Drift Championship (IDC) is once again making its way to Cork for their fourth event of 2016 in Kartworld, Watergrasshill.

As if it wasn’t already shaping up to be an amazing event with a regular grid of Irish drivers ready to do battle, the series will now be joined by drivers flying in especially to take part from as far away as the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Australia. All with the hope of taking down Ireland’s 13-year undefeated streak on home soil.

As if that wasn’t amazing enough, there’ll even be members of the Royal Family of Abu Dhabi competing at the Cork venue, which is an incredible reality by anyone’s standards.

Regardless of the profile of the international guest drivers however, Killavullen-native and recently-turned-17 year-old Jack Shanahan will be aiming to take home the win in Watergrasshill this weekend.

Currently sitting in second place in the 2016 Irish championship standings having taken first place at Round 3 in Mondello Park at the start of July, Jack is perilously close to winning his first ever Irish championship.

So, with title hopes on the line for our very own Cork-native, as well as a 13-year Irish undefeated streak on the line, make sure you head along to Kartworld in Watergrasshill this Saturday and Sunday to witness this amazing event.

Full event information can be found on the Irish Drift Championship’s official Facebook page. Tickets are available on the gate only and cost €10 for Saturday’s Semi Pro event, €20 for Sunday’s Pro-class event and €25 for both days of incredible action.
