Fermoy Musical Society is in a lather of excitement about our upcoming show, ‘South Pacific’ which will be held in the Palace Theatre, Fermoy from November 2 to November 9, 2019. Preparations for the show are already under way.
We are holding a cast call/informal audition on Thursday, May 23 at 7.30 in the Fermoy Community Youth Centre. Formal rehearsals will begin at the end of August.
Our creative team, under the directorship of Brendan Dunlea, would love to meet people who might like to be part of the cast.
We are looking for men to be in the ensemble of Marines and Seabees (the maintenance/engineering corps of the US navy).
We need women to be in the ensemble as nurses and islanders. We need people who might like more main roles, such as the brave young Lieutenant Cable, the heroine Nellie, the handsome older Frenchman Emile DuBeque, the irrepressible fixer, Billis.
We will do two chorus numbers from the show, with a bit of informal singing and dancing. Anyone who would like to try for a main part can express an interest to the production team on the night.
It will give everyone who is interested an opportunity to meet Brendan the director, Deirdre the musical director and Aileen, the choreographer.
The committee of FMS will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have and to give details of rehearsal schedules etc.
The emphasis on Thursday 23 is to have fun and no-one will be pushed outside of their comfort zone. Please come along, you will have a great time.
