The Palace Players, based in Kilworth's Village Arts Centre, are perhaps better know as being from Fermoy (the group first formed in the Community Youth Centre there in 1988 which was formerly known as 'The Palace Hall', hence the name. Since first entering the amateur festival circuit back then, they have never missed a year competing in festivals around the country with moderate success.

To win the All-Ireland is every competing group's dream and it is worth noting that it has been 21 years since the group lifted the ESB trophy to win the confined section at the finals in Enniscorthy with 'One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest'.

The win in Athlone over the weekend was the result of an 18-strong team, all pulling together in yet another an attempt to achieve perfection. They have done the area and all involved in amateur drama, proud!
