Several freezers and fridges lay empty at the Iceland store in Fermoy this week while at least four pallet loads of frozen foods lay defrosting and rotting in the sun at the back of the store.
Staff expressed their concerns to The Avondhu about losing their jobs, wasted food and the lack of communication, and discussed the possibility of arranging a ‘sit in’ at the store. This comes following the closure of three stores in Dublin on Wednesday morning.
News of this comes as the Food Safety Authority of Ireland served an immediate withdrawal and recall notice on Metron Stores Limited, trading as Iceland Ireland.
