Revived in 2006 by community activists, Galbally Horse Fair has been a popular attraction for locals and visitors ever since.

This year’s event took place last Tuesday with a good sized crowd in attendance. The equine scene isn’t as buoyant as it was – a fact reflected in the quality and quantity of animals on show.

Despite this, deals were done with a variety of horses, ponies and donkeys securing new homes.

Side by side with the horse traders are the stall holders whose nomadic lifestyle takes them all over Ireland and beyond.

Hardy and resourceful, these individuals are in for the long all and like any marketeers, they have good days and not so good days.
