Hopes high that Clogheen Post Office will re-open

An Post have been requested to consider a renewal of contract for post office services in Clogheen following an Independent Reviewers’ examination.

The positive news for the area came after An Post’s Independent Reviewers looked into the feasibility of Post Office services in Clogheen and noted the 2016 Census figures along with a comprehensive submission from Fine Gael councillor, Marie Murphy.

Speaking to The Avondhu, Cllr Murphy said the news is great for everyone in Clogheen.

“This is a great day for all of us in Clogheen. The independent reviewers have recognised that the population of Clogheen is sufficient to merit a Post Office and I am delighted that we persisted with our appeal.
