It has been a busy and hectic week for Mitchelstown Fire Brigade, with two road traffic accidents, a fuel spill, chimney fire and a car on fire.

On Wednesday night of last week, there was a car on fire near Junction 13 on the motorway, and as the crew were finishing up at the scene, they were called away to deal with a chimney fire in Ballylanders.

Then on Saturday morning, there was a car accident on the Tallow Road in Fermoy, but Mitchelstown Fire Brigade were called away to deal with a fuel spill in the car park by the library in Fermoy. A large amount of fuel had leaked from a car and luckily the fire brigade cleaned it up before an accident occurred, because if a cigarette had been dropped near the fuel, it would have set up to half a dozen cars on fire and caused a very serious incident.

On Wednesday morning, a van and car collided just outside Fermoy and one man had to be cut free from his vehicle and was taken to hospital for treatment.
