As summer holidays end and children return to school, a dedicated committee are busy fine tuning plans for this year’s Anglesboro Harvest Fair.

A social highlight for locals, the fair incorporates 4 days of activity and entertainment – the highpoint of which is the harvest fair which takes place on Sunday 11th September.

Old harvest fair favourites such as, threshing, butter making, vintage display and dog show are all retained – as is the consistently popular donkey derby.

On Monday evening last the fair was formally launched. There was a fine attendance and the mood was upbeat in advance of the big day.

First up is the family 5k

Harvest fair 2016 kicks off with a family 5k run on Thursday 8th September at 7.30pm – this fun event caters for all athletic abilities. On Friday 9th The Galtee View Bar in Angelsboro hosts a table quiz followed by an inter pub talent competition.

A comprehensive feature detailing a full programme of events will be carried in next week’s edition of The Avondhu.
