Salmon fishing is alive and well on the River Blackwater and we are happy to report that Ballyduff fisherman Bill McNamara, hauled in a 14lb salmon on his own beat in Inchinleamy last week.

The salmon was one of 10 he caught during the week from the River Blackwater near his home. It follows on from a 17lb catch he made last year.

“I wrestled with him for about 10 minutes to get him in. You could spend the same amount of time with a salmon that’s seven or eight pounds, it depends on the line you have,” Bill informed The Avondhu.
