The decision to revive the Fermoy area awards has been an inspired one and on Saturday night last in Corrin Event Centre, individuals, groups, clubs, volunteers and hall of famers were acknowledged at a gala dinner dance and prize giving ceremony.
No one envied the adjudicators who sifted through scores of nominees in an effort to identify those who have made an exceptional contribution to community and sporting life in Fermoy and the surrounding areas.
MC for the event was Alan Short – an accomplished all rounder, who had the advantage of having lived and worked in Fermoy. Alan's combination of rib-tickling humour and composed interviewing style was in keeping with this celebratory occasion.
