After a break in 2025, the Blackwater Triathlon Club were back hosting their own event last Sunday – they did so in conjunction with main sponsor, Roca Sports.
It was like they’d never been away, as athletes, swimmers and cyclists turned out in force for last weekend’s ultimate sporting test that incorporated Olympic, sprint and relay events, as well as an introductory try-a-tri.
Everyone had their own target and thankfully all competitors made it back to the finishing line in Fermoy Town Park. Granted, some did struggle, in what were testing conditions. Family and friends, who weren’t at the finishing line were situated at intervals along the course encouraging their loved ones to keep going and push for the finish line. Competitors were relieved to complete their respective events with many availing of the rub down service to sooth aching bodies.
