Good news for Fermoy this week as Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government, Eoghan Murphy has committed to providing somewhere in the region of €175,000 towards the cost of engaging a consultancy firm to bring the proposed weir works to detailed design and planning stage.

The estimated total cost of these works is in the region of €350,000 and with Cork County Council to provide half of the funding, it is expected that the works will take at least 18 months if not longer.

Cork East TD Minister David Stanton met with Municipal District Officer Pauline Moriarty, this week and informed her of the good news.
