Thirty years after Glenroe featured on RTE when Glenroe actor Joe Lynch visited the South Limerick village, the national broadcaster returned with their cameras to the area this week Glenroe set to feature on Nationwide.

The visit was eagerly anticipated and the crew spent hours filming around Darragh and Glenroe village, taking in things like the river walk at Darragh, the community walkway around the GAA field and the stellar work of the Tidy Towns group, while the charity weight loss group ‘Shed the Pounds’ were also out in force.

Niall Martin from Nationwide interviewed Amanda Slattery of Ballyhoura Development about invasive species and the river walk in Glenroe.

Welcoming the opportunity to speak about Glenroe on RTE, Amanda said that it is a great opportunity to showcase their pilot projects and also use Glenroe to show what an ideal example of a biodiversity corridor looks like, with a perfect example of what a river walk and river system should be like.
