Glanworth man’s 10,000k bike trip

Mike Fenton from Glanworth travelled 10,000km along the Silver Lining Tour to the North Cap to raise funds for the Mercy Hospital Foundation’s Kids + Teens Appeal.

A local biker with the help of some friends is hoping to raise €10,000 for the Mercy Hospital Foundation’s Kids + Teens Appeal, by travelling 10,000km along the Silver Lining Tour to the North Cape.

From August 3 to 17, Mike Fenton from Glanworth, along with 18 other motorcyclists, undertook a trip from Glanworth and headed to Oslo taking in Sweden and Finland on the way.

Enjoying only a couple of rest days, Mike, with his chief navigator and travel companion Bryan Walsh from Fermoy, continued along the Atlantic Ocean road to Trollstigveien and then to Geiranger, Europe’s highest fjord view from a road.

Mike decided to take on the mammoth challenge to raise funds for the kids and teenagers at The Mercy University Hospital after he was diagnosed with cancer himself in 2014.
