‘Bunú Ghaelscoil de hÍde Cuimhní Cinn’ – a publication marking the 40th anniversary of Gaelscoil de hÍde, Mainistir Fhearmuí, was lauched by Mayor of County Cork, Cllr Frank O’Flynn (Proinnsias Ó Floinn) in the school last week. MC for the occasion was a founder member of the school, Sean Ó Murchú from Cill Úird.

Promoted as a ‘booklet’, this publication is a fully fledged 56 page book, complete with its own International Standard Book Number (ISBN). While many hands were required to compile the final product (Marian Ryan, Margaret McGrath, Maura Sheehan, Christy Roche, Sean MacGearailt and Sean Ó Murchú), much of the heavy lifting was done by local man, Tadhg Ó Siocháin (Tim Sheehan).

Speaking ‘as Gaelige’ at the launch, Tadhg said the 40 year history of Gaelscoil de hÍde (named after Ireland’s first President, Douglas Hyde) was a remarkable one.
