Cork band Gaelic Brew are set to launch their début album 'Away From Home' on iTunes and Amazon this Friday, April 18.
The four piece have spent many years on the live circuit bringing crowds to their feet all over Ireland and the UK. With Damien Coughlan on guitar and vocals, Evin O'Riordan on bass, tin whistle and vocals, Frank Maguire on mandolin, fiddle and vocals and Scott Murphy on drums their music is a modern take on classic Irish folk and trad fused with a rock sensibility to add extra flare.
Having spent many months working and producing in Claycastle Recording Studio in Youghal, the band are finally ready to unveil their 13 track album which contains iconic Irish songs such as the Lonesome Boatman and Finnegan’s Wake uniquely arranged in an uplifting style. The album also contains original tracks, which is a new venture for the band. The title track 'Away From Home' was composed while on tour in London in 2013.
"We met with a lot of Irish people of all generations while on tour in London, some who had just arrived and started work, and others who have settled and lived there for many years, and from their stories they inspired us to write 'Away From Home' and 'Whiskey Chasers'," said band guitarist Damien Coughlan.
"I guess without their stories we would not have written these songs, so it would be right and fitting to dedicate this album to them," added bass player Evin O'Riordan. "We are extremely excited and we hope it will be enjoyed by all those who listen to it".
Gaelic Brew can be found performing all over the country and provide a gig listing on their website www.gaelicbrew.com so go ahead and check them out.
Along with the iTunes and Amazon release on Friday 18, their album will also be distributed by www.irishmusic.co.uk and ESD (Entertainment Sales & Distribution) and will be available from numerous retailers on April 26, a list of these outlets will be posted on the bands website www.gaelicbrew.com and on www.facebook.com/gaelic.brew Definitely an album to add to your collection and a band worth looking out for.
