Users of O’Connell Park will have seen new developments there, as Mitchelstown GAA are currently holding some training at the grounds, in a section permitted for use by the GAA Club.

A spokesperson for the club confirmed that they have an entitlement to a section of the park, and as the club is so busy, with its one pitch in constant demand, the decision was made to enhance and reinstate the section within O’Connell Park.

“We have reinstated the pitch as it was before it was closed about 15 years ago. We have made it safe for children, and fenced it off from dogs and rabbits so that kids can use it safely …”
