The cancellation of the St Patrick’s Day parades was in itself a big story. It would mean some minor inconvenience, revising of plans and a change of focus. That all seems like a long time ago.

With things changing by the hour, it now looks increasingly likely we’ll see stricter measures enforced to combat the Covid-19 outbreak.

Despite the Taoiseach’s ‘calm before the storm’ remarks (made on St Patrick’s Day), the public, perhaps understandably, have taken some time adjusting to the new dispensation.
