Fish carcasses dumped in Blackwater condemned

Gutted fish carcasses were recently discovered dumped in the River Blackwater by a pier entrance, located at Rathealy Road in Fermoy.

Following an investigation by Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI), the remains of the fish were confirmed to be that of a sea fish species, something which IFI do not have jurisdiction over.

Upon enquiry, a spokesperson told The Avondhu that the fish discovered are both pollock and mackerel; and that it appeared the remains had been there for some time.
