Mitchelstown now has an arts and heritage centre and first steps were taken this week to prepare Saint George’s former church for its first major event to be held on May 18.
The news was announced yesterday that the former Saint George’s Church is now owned by a new not-for-profit company dedicated to saving the building for the future and converting it into a centre for arts and heritage activities.
The evening promises to be a gala event with mulled wine and refreshments, as well as a few surprises. It’s estimated that the entire project will cost in the region of €1 million and has already been successful in obtaining grants that are helping with essential works.
