A file is being prepared for the DPP after a man was found in possesion of a quantity of tobacco after his car was stopped by the Revenue’s customs service in Watergrasshill on Thursday evening last.

The retail value of the tobacco was put at €44,000. The potential loss to the Exchequer was estimated to be almost €35,000.

The man, who is Irish and in his 30s, was detained for questioning and his estate car seized after it was stopped by Gardai working with Custom’s officers.
