A positive response is being hoped for, following a request from one area councillor to have a change to the Domestic Water Supply Grant Scheme, to include the cost of equipment.

To reduce the costs for householders, Cllr Kevin O'Keeffe has called on Cork County Council to extend the terms of the Domestic Water Supply Grant Scheme to include the cost of equipment.

He argued that the equipment reduces the content of excessive lime at the recent Northern Area Committee meeting.

He was told that the criteria for the grant is set by the Department and equipment to deal with hard water is not currently listed, but they have forwarded the councillor's concerns.

"I await the Department's response, which I hope will be positive," he said.
