Bishop Murphy Memorial School hit another milestone this week as the Fermoy school raised its fifth Green Flag, presented in acknowledgment of their efforts towards biodiversity.

Work towards achieving their this goal began in the 2023/2024 school year, with two pupils from every class stepping up to the Green Schools committee. According to Ms Kevany, pupils showed a great willingness to participate, undertaking a number of new and creative projects to learn more about biodiversity and, in turn, doing their bit for their local area.

Two ASD classes at the school got butterfly kits and reared caterpillars ensuring they were fed and had the right habitat to thrive, later releasing them as butterflies into the wild.
