Cllr John Murphy welcomes the announcement made by town clerk, Ms Pauline Moriarty at this month’s council meeting that the weir is to be repaired before September.

“This news is to be welcomed as the weir is badly in need of repair. It is also to be welcomed that discussions between the town council and the Inland Fisheries Board regarding the removal of the gravel islands below the bridge are ongoing.

“When all this work is done, it will further enhance the town and protect our heritage and beautiful waterway,” Cllr Murphy said.
