Fermoy teacher to score music for film ’59’ in London

Exciting days lie ahead for those involved with the film ’59, much of which was shot in the North Cork region – Girish Patel tells The Avondhu of his excitement as he heads to London to finalise the orchestral score for the soundtrack.

Fermoy-based film-maker Girish Patel will next month travel to London and the world famous Abbey Road Studios, to finalise the orchestral score for the soundtrack of his locally shot film ‘59’.

The film, which features a near all-Irish cast, several of whom are local to Fermoy, had its premiere at the Vienna Woods hotel in October last and has now been edited to the director’s cut.

Coláiste an Chraoibhín teacher, Mr Patel, who is hoping for a Christmas release of the film, said he is thrilled to be returning to the Abbey Road Studios to finish cutting the orchestral score and songs for the film’s soundtrack album.
