DIVISION 4

Division 4 match this Saturday, February 1 at 12.30pm v Bruff in the Crescent Comprehensive, Limerick. Please ensure you reply to Mike and Trish if you have are on the squad and unable to play. Both Mike and Trish put in a huge effort organizing the matches so a text back will really help when trying to make arrangements.

The team had a great day out last Saturday in Clonakilty though sadly lost in the end. With only 10 players, the girls gave a terrific performance with Ondine Roche in goals, Trisha Coughlan, Niamh Ryan, Ruth Herlihy and Kathryn Buckley making up the back line. While Sarah Jane O’Riordan, Georgia Mai McGrath and Elaine O’Donnell made up the midfields, and Sarah Noonan and Grace Kelly played as forwards. Playing against eleven players, Fermoy kept Clonakilty to 1 goal in the first half but unfortunately losing 3-0 by the final whistle. Many thanks to Eugene and Alan who came down to Clonakilty with the girls.

DIVISION 1

Fermoy v Catholic Institute, Limerick, in Rossbrien, Limerick at 2pm on Saturday, February 1st. The team had a great outing against Bandon last weekend winning 1 nil. Aibhinn O’Sullivan scored the winning goal.

VALENTINE RAFFLE

Fermoy Hockey Club is running its very successful Valentine’s hamper raffle again this year. We are very grateful to Mellerick’s Pharmacy, Fermoy for their sponsorship of two beautiful hampers, one Lancôme and one Rimmel. No doubt these will be very popular amongst the players and friends and family. Please buy a ticket from any of the members and thanks again to Orla Mellerick for her continued fantastic support of the club.

JUNIOR CLUB

Training continues every Tuesday night from 6-7pm at the Loreto Sports Complex for these U10 players. The club is very grateful to Dave Ryan of Amber Service Station, Fermoy for his generous sponsorship. If you are the parent of a child who would like to be more active in the winter months do bring them along to training and let them have a taste of hockey.

U12s train on Friday evenings at 6pm and U14s train at 7pm at Loreto Sports Complex.

CHURCH GATE COLLECTION

The hockey club would like to thank everyone who contributed to the church gate collection in Fermoy on Sat 14th and Sun, 15th Dec and all the collectors who helped also.

Irish Hockey U18 Player of the Year nomination

Kathryn Buckley, our division 4 goalie, has been nominated for an Irish Hockey U18 Player of the Year award.

She is currently training with the Irish U16 training panel following recent trials at St Gerard's in Bray and a great performance with the Munster U16 team in the All-Ireland inter-provincials in Cork last October. You can vote for her on the Irish Hockey website or log onto awardsvoting.question.pro.com. Good luck Kathryn.
