Fermoy Community Hospital Fundraising Committee have acknowledged the substantial amount presented to them by Cork’s No 1 DJ - Seán Donnellan, following the highly successful gala night held in his honour to commemorate his association with Cork’s C103fm, formerly County Sound, for the past 25 years.
Some of the benefits from the gala night were presented to the local hospital, which was Mr Donnellan’s chosen charity. Chairperson of Fermoy Community Hospital Fundraising Committee Tadhg O’Donovan, said Sean has ‘for the last quarter century played a pivotal role in the development of Fermoy Hospital fundraising efforts’.
“Over that period of time, Seán has proven to be the greatest ambassador that the fundraisers could ever have hoped for. No financial figure could quantify the goodwill Seán has created towards the Fermoy Community Hospital, as the high esteem with which he is held in, has to be seen to be believed," Mr O’Donovan told The Avondhu.
“Seán’s popularity as a DJ was self evident at his gala night, as there was top class entertainment from the four corners of the country who came to acknowledge not only his contribution to entertainment, but particularly country music. The reality is that the Fermoy Community Hospital could not continue to be more fortunate than to have Seán as its greatest ambassador,” he added.
Mr Donnellan was recently honoured with a Music Industry Companion Award in the Rochestown Park Hotel, for the 25 years of support he has given to Irish recording artists.
