Local farming family, the Cunninghams went viral last week, as footage of them rescuing sheep from snow drifts on the Galtee mountains was widely shared.
Brothers Tom, John and William, along with nephew Billy Cunningham, took to the mountains last week with their sheepdogs and were out for several days seeking out and saving as many sheep as they could, after the animals had become buried in the heavy snowfall.
Speaking to Patricia Messinger on C103’s Cork Today Show, their sister Ann Drake of Ballyhoura Farm Escape, explained that several neighbouring sheep farmers were in the same situation, as ‘there could be thousands’ of sheep across the Galtees buried, from farmers across the communities of Kilbehenny, Anglesboro, Skeheenarinky, Burncourt, Aherlow, etc.
