Fundraising is a year round activity and tremendous credit is due to the public who continually dig deep for good causes. An individual who’s seen this support at first hand is Ballyduff man, Tommy Byrne, who has walked in aid of Pieta House during the month of February.

Speaking to The Avondhu after his recent exertions, Tommy was wholesome in his praise of family, neighbours and friends – along with people he didn’t know.

“The support I got was incredible, it came from all over, local people were brilliant. I also got massive support from all the surrounding areas, I was amazed by it really. I was delighted to go over the €2,000 mark, then I hit €3,000 and after that, €4,000. Following last Sunday, we’re very close to €5,000 and there’s still some money to come in,” he told The Avondhu.
