With respect to all the other monuments and plaques erected to commemorate 1916, the installation in Kildorrery is by far and away the most elaborate and decorative.

Special guest at last Sunday’s unveiling, Irish Ambassador to Britain, Dan Mulhall, observed that the stone work was ‘exceptional’.

“I’ve taken some time to inspect the monument and am hugely impressed by the character, design and craftsmanship involved, I’m informed that a Mr. Michael Walsh is responsible, he is to be commended for this outstanding and exceptional monument” Ambassador Mulhall said.
