Energy retrofits years away for some local tenants

Council estates within the Fermoy and Mitchelstown area are not included in the council’s retrofitting programme until 2026 at the earliest, a matter described this week as of ‘no consolation’ for tenants awaiting necessary home energy improvements.

Details of the Cork County Council Energy Retrofitting Programmes from 2025 to 2027 were laid out to elected members at a meeting of the Northern Divisional Committee earlier this week, with a number of estates in the region outlined as being set to have works carried out this year and next.

Nine properties at O’Neill Crowley Place in Mitchelstown are included in the Energy Efficiency Programme for 2026. That same year, 17 properties at Cluain Ard in Fermoy are also to see works.
