
Fermoy Pitch and Putt clubwoman, Eleanor Walsh has been lauded as ‘one of the greatest players of all time’ as she secured a World Championship title in Galicia.
Ms Walsh was named the World Senior Strokeplay champion for the second time after competing at the international event held at the Tambre course in Galicia, Spain on June 28 and 29 this year.
In 2017, Ms Walsh claimed the same title at the World Ladies Strokeplay Championship held at Imjelt in Norway.
Eleanor Walsh dominated the ladies’ championship from start to finish, firing eighteens of 49, 54 and 57 for a three under par aggregate of 159 and an incredible seventeen shot win.
In the sweltering heat, the Fermoy clubwoman put in a ‘simply stunning all-round performance’ to take the win, adding another title to her long list of success in the sport.
