While the corridors of St Fanahan’s College in Mitchelstown have been filled with first year students settling into their new surroundings this month, this school term has also seen the introduction of a new principal, Edward Cronin, who has replaced Tadhg Long.
Prior to his new position in Mitchelstown, Mr Cronin taught English and history, as well as coaching hurling, in Gaelcholáiste Mhuire A.G., part of the North Monastery campus in Cork City. He holds a degree in English and History (Joint Honours) from UCC, as well as a HDip in Education and a Master’s in Education from UCC.
Speaking to The Avondhu, he said one of the first things that struck him on arrival in St Fanahan’s was the sense of community within the school, among both the staff and the students.
