From fire performance to live music to a family circus day, Wild Collective is set to make art accessible to the wider community on Saturday, July 26 at The Richmond Revival.
The artists’ collective, founded by Carlos Ascorbe has something to suit everyone and will be kicking off events from 2pm, running until 10pm that night.
A one-day festival, Eden of Art will be the second community event of performers, visual artists, musicians, etc held at the Fermoy venue. Performers taking part in this weekend’s collaborative event include Ru O’Shea, Bubba Shakespeare, Pureclass, Non Toxic Orchestra, Jaleo and Pedro Ahnuc.
Speaking with The Avondhu, Carlos Ascorbe explained that as well as performers from across Cork and Ireland, the upcoming festival will include Spanish flamenco dancing, captivating fire performances, and much more. Children’s games, visual art and installations, and a magic atmosphere camping under the stars will also form part of the experience.
COMBINING EDUCATION WITH ART
Carlos Ascorbe Toval is a passionate performance artist and early years educator whose work bridges the worlds of circus, creativity and community empowerment. Originally from Spain, Carlos began his journey in the world of performance through circus and clown theatre, in ‘Malabaramortal’ Circus Group in Santande, Cantabria, discovering early on the power of play and storytelling to connect people of all ages.
For the past eight years, Carlos has been based in Ireland and since founding a network of friends and artists while working as a solo performer, Carlos has left early years education to become self-employed to use his skill and knowledge to share art with friends and the wider community, combining education with art and artistic independence and encouraging people to work together to adapt to the needs of the community.
The first edition of Eden of Art, the community arts day, also took place in Fermoy at Richmond Revival and saw a strong turnout of performers, musicians and artists sharing their passion with the public and wider community – a the day that marked ‘the start of a collective dream’.
All are invited to attend Eden of Art 2, hosted by the Wild Collective as collaborating artists and performers aim to bring affordable, inclusive art for all to enjoy and witness the passion of ‘people that still put their heart in what they do’.
Food will be available on site, with entry to the non-profit event at a cost of a €10 cash donation to the Camping Area.
“Bring your friends, your spirit, and your love for the arts. Let’s gather again in the garden of creativity,” Mr Ascorbe said.
