€4.5M put aside for ‘Town’s Georgian Quarter

Cork County Council have published the tender documents to hire a designer for the enhancement of the Georgian Quarter of Mitchelstown, incorporating George’s Street, King’s Street, King’s Square and New Market Square.

The successful applicant will be appointed in early November 2021, and are expected to have their draft plan submitted to the council within eight weeks of their appointment. The entire project is scheduled to take 42 weeks in total, or just over nine months.

The budget for the construction of Mitchelstown Georgian Quarter is given as €4.5 million, however, the tender brief documents reference the fact that Cork County Council intends to submit a further funding application to the Department of Rural and Community Development.
