One of the gems of the Blackwater Valley, Ileclash House in Fermoy, has come on the market with a guide price of €3.5 million. The 18th century Georgian property, set on 12 acres, was formerly the home of Oswald Mosley, the founder of the British Union of Fascists.

Joining Castlehyde on the property market, Ileclash House is a six bedroom, six bathroom house situated along the River Blackwater and comes with fishing rights and an a private island. The property is for sale by the Fraser family, who first bought it in 2006, spending around €2 million on renovation work.

After its construction, Ileclash House was a popular location for the wealthy, before falling into disrepair after the Second World War. Following restoration, it was lived in by Oswald Mosley – father of Max Mosley – who counted Adolf Hitler as an associate.

The lavish house boasts a library and study along with a double reception room, double drawing room, breakfast room and morning room. The property also consists of courtyard with two guest cottages, a walled garden and 2km of stretch of riverbank.

The house was previously for sale in 2008 and 2011, and is presently on the market with Colliers International for €3.5 million, a paltry sum compared to the €20 million asking price for the nearby Castlehyde.
