Another episode of illegal dumping was recorded in the Kilworth area on Thursday, June 15 when perpetrators, making no effort to conceal their crime, threw a large bag of domestic refuse onto the road verge in the Ballyderowne area of Kilworth.

This is the latest incident of dumping in the Kilworth area, where there have also been several cases of vandalism, including in Kilworth Pitch & Putt Club and in Glenseskin Woods.

According to Kilworth resident and community activist Cian O’Meara, by the time the refuse bag was discovered it had been hit by several vehicles and was scattered all over the road. A number of residents tidied up the rubbish and went through the bag to try and find any items that may help identify the individual or individuals involved.

The rubbish which was dumped at Ballyderown, Kilworth.

Any items, such as receipts, can be used to find those responsible and can be given to Gardaí as part of their investigation into an incident of illegal dumping. Mr O’Meara said the case has been reported to Gardaí.

“We have hopes of a prosecution in this case and will continue to report any dumping and continue to seek prosecutions in all cases of roadside dumping.

“There can be no tolerance of this behaviour and given the work that many in the community carry out to keep their area clean and tidy this criminal activity must be shown no mercy,” he said.
