A draft map of the Diocese of Cloyne has been shared this week, highlighting the new agreed pastoral areas that are due to come into effect. Following meetings and discussions of a Diocesan Review Group, the revised layout aims to provide more effective pastoral service to all parishes.
Outlined on the new map are several local parishes, brought together under the umbrella of pastoral areas. Mitchelstown, Kildorrery and Glanworth form one new pastoral area, while Fermoy, Kilworth and Castletownroche form another. Also grouped under a new pastoral area, are Rathcormac, Castlelyons and Conna.
Once new pastoral areas are agreed, Bishop William Crean outlined, priests will not be appointed to just an individual parish, but to a pastoral area.
