Last Friday, June 20th, a great crowd gathered at Mikey Ryan’s Bridge, for another evening of traditional music, dance and chat, at ‘Dancing At The Crossroads’. This year, the occasion was blessed with glorious weather, both for the preparations and the evening itself.
There are now over 20 neighbours directly involved in the organising – each plays a part to ensure that everything runs smoothly. The success of the event is a real tribute to the local community – ar scáth a céile a mhaireann na daoine.
In addition, the following merit special mention for their contributions – Mike O’Shea, Pat Lambe, Patricia Dwane, Sam Hyland, CBS Primary, Mitchelstown Musical Society, Kayren Hayes Brennan, The Avondhu, Roche’s Spar, Paul Casey, Claire Devaney, BrightSparks, Joe O’Donoghue and Mike Tobin for the stage, Mitchelstown Comhaltas, Ritchie Rea, Mitchelstown Set Dancers, Ted O’Brien and Mícheál Fogarty of the Fogues and all who entertained; Kieran O’Donoghue for his wonderful recreation of an old Irish cottage, Ger and Odhran Brennan for the official photography and, of course, Mikey and Alice Ryan and family, who are so generous allowing use of various fields, and so much more.
