Conna native and St Catherine’s GAA star, Daniel Mangan, was selected on the starting team for Cork intermediate hurlers in the All-Ireland final against Kilkenny in Nowlan Park last Saturday.

The selectors will certainly be happy with their choice as Dan scored two goals and two points in the close match which saw Cork take home the All-Ireland Title at the final whistle 2-02 to 18 points.

As an employee of the Irish Defence Forces based in Collins Barracks and as a part-time personal trainer, Dan is improving fitness, nutrition and mindset every day through his work. Naturally, this has a positive impact on his game and he feels lucky to be in a job he loves which also benefits his sport endeavours.

The intermediates had been only training together as a team for about three weeks prior to the match but as all the players had been training hard at club level so all were well prepared physically.
