Dromina hurling club was the big winner at last Friday night’s Cavanagh’s of Fermoy league winners’ draw when David O’Sullivan and his cousin, Dromina junior hurler, John O’Connor went home with a Ford Fiesta and a Ford Ka.

Securing new wheels was a nice ‘top up’ for bachelor David who last year scooped €380,000 as part of a National Lottery syndicate win – this was his cut from a €3.8 million jackpot that was divided between himself and 9 work colleagues from the Cheesestrings manufacturing division of the Kerry Foods plant in Charleville.

Downing a well deserved beer after the draw, David, who is ‘into horses’ said he ‘felt fine’ and that he was having a ‘good run of luck’ – one way of putting in I suppose.

David’s outrageous lucky streak was the main talking point in what was a thoroughly enjoyable evening. No one went home empty handed as all 30 finalists won a minimum of €250.
