With just ten weeks to go until the Drive to Survive campaigners will be driving two Model T Ford's around Ireland to raise money for hospices in Ireland, there are a number of upcoming fundraisers to help them reach their target of €1 million. In August, they will drive around Ireland for seven days, raising money for hospices around the country.

"The Drive to Survive campaign aims to mobilise the country to raise funds for hospices in Ireland," Dan Gallahue said. The campaign is in memory of Dan's father John who sadly passed away in 2011 from cancer and this national fundraiser is a tribute to all that he achieved.

This Friday, May 31, Helen O'Mahony of Ballyfaskin, Ballylanders has kindly offered to host a coffee evening in her own home from 5.30pm until 8pm and all funds raised will go to Milford Hospice.

The Ballylanders-based charity group will host an informal family evening at Gallahue's Bar, Ballylanders on Sunday June 2 and admission is free.

A free kiddies disco will kick off the event from 5pm-7pm and will include a visit from the newly crowned Voice of Ireland Keith Hanley, who will give an free impromptu hip hop class to the kids.

There will also be a bouncy castle and the family barbecue starts at 6.30pm, all are welcome and later in the evening there will be music in the bar followed by a late disco. This is an opportunity for people to meet the Drive to Survive volunteers, learn more about the campaign and find out how they can help to raise money for the hospice closest to them.

On Saturday, June 15, the Mitchelstown Drive to Survive volunteers will host a race night in Jackie O'Brien's starting at 9pm. This promises a great night for racing enthusiasts and those who would be new to racing, as all information is provided on the night.

Kildorrery GAA Hillfest Midsummer Festival in conjunction with Drive To Survive and Marymount Hospice will hold a monster table quiz in the marquee on the opening night of this year's festival Thursday, July 4. There will be a bar available on the night and table services provided.

"Please come out in numbers and set the festival off to a flying start," Dan Gallahue said.

The traditional Irish music festival Éigse Eatharlaí (www.eatharlai.ie) will host a coffee morning at Tigh Roy on July 28 from 12-2pm. Enjoy the finest of traditional Irish music and dance while sipping your cup of coffee or tea.

The recent fundraising day in Kilmallock Mart on May 6, raised more than €1,300 and the organisers wish to thank everyone who helped out in any way on the day and in the lead up to it.

As part of the raffle on the day, the first prize of €100 went to Denis Martin, Kilmallock, second prize of a hamper kindly sponsored by Mairead Hayes, Mace in Ballylanders was won by David O'Gorman, Knockadea and third prize of €50, which has yet to be claimed, was won by Tim Foley.
