A Glanworth area road which has suffered severe flooding in recent years will receive only routine drainage maintenance, a meeting of the Fermoy Electoral Area committee was told on Tuesday.
Cllr Kevin O’Keefe had tabled a motion calling on Cork County Council to carry out urgent works to prevent further flooding on the road from Charlie Burke’s Cross as far as Howards, Ballykeating. He was told by the area engineer that routine drainage maintenance will be carried out on the route as in previous years.
Cllr O’Keefe argued that there had been ‘fierce flooding’ there over the last number of years. Cllr Frank O’Flynn seconded the motion.
