Cork County Council are due to write a letter to the Tánaiste Simon Coveney to request a meeting with him to discuss the Fermoy Weir and find a funding source for its repair and the repair of the fish pass.
At the first meeting of Cork County Council at County Hall following the election, Cllr Frank O’Flynn called for standing orders to be suspended so that he could bring up a motion in relation to the weir in Fermoy.
Suspension of standing orders was granted and Cllr O’Flynn described to the meeting the ‘devastation’ being caused to the town as a result of the deterioration of the weir.
