Cork County Council has confirmed that they are attempting to progress the acquisition of a piece of land in Fermoy that will allow access to council land at Uplands, paving the way for the development of a social housing estate at the site.
Despite owning a large site in the town, the council has been unable to progress any development on it as they continue to face access issues.
Speaking at this week’s Northern Committee meeting, Maurice Manning, Director of Housing Services with Cork County Council, said the negotiations have reopened in relation to acquiring the land that is required to access the site on the outskirts of the town.
