‘Could only secure 3 GP appointments in 12 months’ – cancer victim

A local woman has claimed that she has only been able to see her GP in person a maximum of three times since experiencing medical issues over 12 months ago.

The Rathcormac woman who has recently been diagnosed with cancer of the womb and is now facing a hysterectomy, alleges that she would be recovering by now if she had access to her GP.

In June 2021, the woman told The Avondhu that she began experiencing chest and back pains, however, was unable to get an appointment with her GP and instead, claimed that she had a phone consultation in which her doctor prescribed digestion tablets.

It wasn’t until September that the woman says she managed to make an in-person appointment for the same complaint and was then sent for an ultrasound that revealed she was suffering from gallstones and had a stomach infection.
